-Origin: From the collection of photos for the exhibition in the Bonnefanten Pinkpop-up museum at the Pinkpop festival in Landgraaf in 2017. The reason for showing Schiffmacher's photos in the Bonnefanten Pinkpop-up museum was the publication in 2016 of the photo book " Henk Schiffmacher, Photographer ", containing a selection of his photography from the period 1970-1985. He took these photos during his travels in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Mumbai, Manila, San Francisco and Kuala Lumpur. The photos were printed once on dibond for this exhibition.

Information about the artist:
Henk Schiffmacher (Harderwijk, 22 March 1952) - tattoo artist, writer, painter and photographer, comes from a catholic family of butchers. From a young age he had a predilection for drawing and collecting. He had little interest in school. He wanted to become a painter. His first sketches and drawings found their way to the houses and bedrooms of uncles and aunts and he won annual drawing competitions. His artistic ambition led to a short period at the Reclame School REX on Frederiksplein in Amsterdam in the early seventies.
In the mid-seventies, Henk Schiffmacher worked at De Bijenkorf, in the advertising department that took care of the famous window displays. After training as a sign painter, he also started taking photographs. At lunchtime, he often dropped by Tattoo Peter's shop in the Sint Olofssteeg, where his fascination for tattooing began. During his world travels, he collected all kinds of items that had to do with the history of tattooing.
Henk Schiffmacher has tattooed the following people, among others: The members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers - The members of Pearl Jam - Kurt Cobain - Barry Hay - Willy DeVille - Herman Brood and Xandra Jansen - Anouk - Robbie Williams - Lady Gaga . On November 5, 2011, the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum opened, the largest tattoo museum in the world and is dedicated to the mother of all arts: tattooing. The basis is the unique collection that Schiffmacher has assembled in more than thirty years.
