Biography:
HP Koekkoek also called Pieter Hendrik Koekkoek was the son of the landscape painter MA Koekkoek and belonged to the third generation of "Koekkoek" painters. The influence of his father is clearly visible in his vast romantic landscapes with imposing groups of trees, tiny figures and cattle. He lived and worked in Amsterdam and for some time in London (between 1865-1890), where his cousin Hermanus Jr. had an art dealership. Hendrik Pieter Koekkoek must have been a great nature lover and usually signed his paintings with "HP Koekkoek".
