Beautiful, powerfully painted landscape. Pletser studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, under Alexander van Maasdijk and Jan de Jong. He was known as a headstrong artist and a "loner". Pletser mainly painted still lifes, but also made figure pieces and landscapes. He worked in a progressive, powerful style for that time, often in a daring colour scheme. His paintings are often dark, but because of the contrasting light and shadow effects, there are always colours that jump out. Pletser was a member of the Circle of Visual Artists R 33 (for which he exhibited several times) and the Rotterdam Association of Art and Crafts.
