Frederik Cornelis Johannes (Freek) Souwer, born on 23 October 1898 in Haarlem; died on July 25, 1968 in Spoleto (Italy).
Self-taught draftsman, painter, pen artist and etcher.
Subjects: landscape (as a genre), still lifes and figures.
Was a member of the Dutch Art Circle (The Hague) and for many years a board member (treasurer) of the Society of Visual Artists 'Kunst Zij Ons Doel' (KZOD) in Haarlem.

Freek Souwer was educated at the Kunstnijverheidsschool aan de Dreef in Haarlem and worked as a painter and industrial designer. He was also a particularly good draftsman. He derived his subjects from nature.
He was a member of KZOD and a board member for over 16 years, of which 11 years as treasurer. In the spring of 1968 he stepped down as treasurer, after a turbulent year in the association.
He has worked a lot on his farm near Spoleto in Italy and he has also held several exhibitions there.
In addition to KZOD, he also exhibited at the Nederlandse Kunstkring in The Hague and the Agnietenklooster in Gouda.
