  • Frank Lodeizen (Amsterdam, 1931 – 2013) studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and worked as a graphic artist, painter and sculptor. Lodeizen had a lot of contact with the Vijftigers (Lucebert, Remco Campert, etc.) and with Cobra and exhibited extensively, especially in Amsterdam. He became known to a wider audience with his etchings, which he made in collaboration with well-known poets and writers such as Hans Andreus and Simon Carmiggelt. Hans, Frank's brother, was also a well-known poet. Lucebert and later Paul Klee are cited as important influences on his work.
Frank Lodeizen came from a Jewish family with branches to well-known families such as the Miranda. Much of his family did not return from the camps. During the war they also became involved in the resistance. Even after the war, Frank got involved in all kinds of adventures. In addition to his involvement with famous poets and artists, he also had a stormy love life with four marriages, including his first marriage to a Swedish film star with whom he traveled a lot. The famous actress and director Rifka was born from his fourth marriage. Frank Lodeizen's work is included in various leading collections, including that of Museum Van Bommel Van Dam, the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam and, last but not least, the Literature Museum.
