Erich Smodics February 4, 1941 in Bregenz is an Austrian painter and member of the Bregenz Circle.
In 1960, Smodics trained as a form engraver and designer for print models and worked as a textile draftsman. In 1964, he joined forces with Helmut Fetz, Rudolf Zündel and Siegfried Kresser to form the "Bregenz Circle", which was based on the "Vienna School of Fantastic Realism". He had his first exhibitions in 1966 in Bregenz and Vienna (Montfort Prize exhibition). From 1970 onwards, he worked as a freelance painter, graphic artist and sculptor.
