''The works of Eria Nsubuga, also known as Sane, take a satirical approach to complex themes of immigration, neo-colonialism and consumerism.

His recent work explores metaphors of access and border crossing, playing on some of the factors shaping the bordered world such as inventions of nationhood and race. Beneath such interrogation lies an intricate exploration of the invisibility and visibility of African people including their art and culture on the international stage.

Nsubuga graduated with a first-class degree in Industrial and Fine Art from Makerere University, Kampala, and is currently completing his PhD at the University of Southampton.

Nsubuga has been published on several occasions including African Arts, Vol. 50, Number 2, Summer 2017; 2017; Transition, Number 104, 2011, among others. Nsubuga has had several solo exhibitions since 2002 and has participated in a number of group shows including at the Tate Modern, London with a Tate Exchange/ University of Southampton group project (2019), The Centre Pompidou, Paris (2007); Cape Town Art Fair (2018); and Icons and Avatars at David Krut Projects, New York alongside Marlene Dumas and Aïda Muluneh (2017).''
