From an interview:
“If I worked for a newspaper, I would probably do different work. But who wants to have a traffic accident hanging on the wall? And so there is also a lot of eating in my work. There is often fish on the plate. This animal has a number of advantages: It is easy to depict. Just try to draw a steak on a plate and you will understand what I mean. And fish never looks ugly, like a cat or a dog.
I don't have a message, but my client often does. For example, he wants to tell his partner that he loves him and that's why he gives him a picture of two people lying in the grass and the sun is shining. We know that it rains a lot in the Netherlands, he doesn't have to tell us that."
