Bob Immink werd in 1930 in Amsterdam geboren en groeide op in de Spaarndammerhoutbuurt. Hij verhuisde op 37-jarige leeftijd naar een vrijstaand huis in Ilpendam met een mooi uitzicht over de weidegebieden van het Waterlandse polderland. Dat landschap werd door hem vastgelegd in olieverfschilderijen met de karakteristieke brede penseelvoering. Immink was een meester in het weglaten.
