During his long life, painter Bertus Voortman (1916-2012) created an extensive oeuvre. Landscapes, city and village views were favourite themes. He also recorded his impressions during holiday trips and made still lifes, portraits, figure and nude drawings. His posters and set designs for revues brought him wide local fame. Bertus Voortman from Zutphen was devoted to his city. 'I can never get enough of this city', he once wrote.
