Beautiful work by Arnold van de Laar (1886-1974), painter, restorer and copyist from 's-Hertogenbosch. Copy of 'A dog with a dead goose and a peacock' by Jan Weenix (ca. 1700). Original in the Rijksmuseum (object no. SK-C-264). Van de Laar made this work in 1918. From documentation and the mentions of copies in the Van de Laar letter archive and the copyist register of the Rijksmuseum, 95 copies are known so far. The painting has a capital frame.
