Maakte reizen naar Ned. Indië, België, Frankrijk, Engeland en Spanje. Studeerde in 1925-1927 te Parijs bij André Lhôte (1½ jaar); op de vrije akademie de Ia Grande Chaumière (2 jaar), daarna bij Galenis (grafiek), verder enige weken bij N. M. Eekman.
Schilderde, aquarelleerde en tekende veel landschappen, stadsgezichten, figuren, bloemstukken, stillevens enz. Was lid van ‘De Onafhankelijken’, ‘Pictura’ te Dordrecht, de Haagse Aquarellisten Kring, ‘Pulchri Studio’ in Den Haag en was voorzitter van het Ned. Steuncomité voor Beeldende Kunstenaars.
