Beautiful watercolor by the Belgian sculptor, painter, watercolorist and draftsman Antoon Luyckx (Antwerp, April 19, 1922 - November 10, 2017).

Luyckx studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp from 1939 to 1944, where he won first prizes for drawing, perspective, anatomy, publicity and sculpting. He was also awarded the O. Nottebohm prize. From 1944 onwards he ended up in the studio of Baron L. Opsomer. This brought him into contact with sculptor Lode Vleeshouwers. The only child of brother Rik Vleeshouwers, Hilda, became Luyckx's muse. The marriage of 1947 produced 5 children. Both Hilda and his children served as models for many of Luyckx's sculptures.
In the fifties, Luyckx built his house in Deurne with a large studio in the garden. In 1962, Antoon Luyckx founded the art school "Academia" in Borsbeek. The recognition by the State took place a year later, with an appointment as director. In 1971, Academia was recognized as a municipal art school. Various purchases of works by the State followed. Travel grants to Italy (1972) and New York (1980) were awarded.

Dimensions: 28x38cm and with frame 45x55cm and glass plate for the watercolor.
