The animal is an important symbol in AH's work. It goes back to his admission to Santpoort, where he came across an animal during an evening walk, probably a deer. Part of the sticker was also applied by collector Van Zoeren for a sales exhibition.
In 2001 I bought this work from Van Zoeren's heirs.
