Founded in 1955
In 1955, the first international World Press Photo competition was held by a Dutch group of photographers to show their work to a worldwide audience. Since then, World Press Photo has grown and developed into the world's most prestigious photography competition. The global exhibitions bring people from all over the world in contact with the winning stories. By displaying stories from all over the world, in different perspectives, they at World Press Photo want to make sure that people are moved when they see a photo that tells a story.
