Founded in 1933 - dissolved in 1934
Unit One was a British group formed by Paul Nash to promote modern art, architecture and design. At the time of its foundation, there were two major movements in modern art, namely abstract art and surrealism. Unit One spanned the spectrum as its founder Nash created both abstract and surreal art. Unit One would represent the expression of a completely contemporary spirit. There has been one group exhibition, in 1934, which was accompanied by a book called Unit One: The Modern Movement in English Architecture, Painting and Sculpture.
