The Neue Wilden, or the New Wilden, is a German post-war art movement. The members of the Neue Wilden are young artists, born during or around the war years. The Neue Wilden were a sub-movement of neo-expressionism who were inspired by the cultural heritage of their own country. It is a 'brutal' form of expressionism, where it is not an art that meets the traditional beauty standards. At this point in history, beauty standards were set by mainstream conceptual and minimalist art. They used large-sized canvases on which the artists expressed their social unease.
