Founded in 1962
In the early 1960s, some members of De Ploeg decided to set up their own graphic workshop. This resulted in the Graphic Center Groningen. Although the studio started small, the Graphic Center soon started to house all types of presses that the maker of graphics had. Because the Grafisch Centrum grew so much, it seemed better to turn it into an independent foundation and the ties with De Ploeg were gradually cut.
Besides the transfer of knowledge and the opportunity to work freely, the courses offered by the Graphic Center also created special groups, such as the Northern Etchers and projects from which books and prints were published.
