Designum was founded in 1980 by a few graphic and product designers from the Vormgeversassociatie. They were looking for a way to produce the interior accessories they designed while maintaining high quality, both in design and execution. The products were marketed in-house, so that the designers kept control over the entire chain. The Designum brand was discontinued in 2004.
