Information about the artist:
Gerard (Gerrit Petrus) Fieret (The Hague, January 19, 1924 – The Hague, January 22, 2009), visual artist, poet and photographer. He was also a bookseller, stained glass painter and portrait artist and built and played pan flutes.
-Education: Just before and after the Second World War he studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
From the late 1950s to around 1980, Gerard Fieret mainly focused on photography, a medium with which he could showcase all his visual talents.
Gerard Fieret was a well-known figure on the streets of The Hague for years, he could be found every day on his bicycle with two buckets of pigeon food on the handlebars. His daily walk took him past about thirty places where he fed his favorite birds.
The Hague Art Circle honored him with honorary membership in 2008 at the last minute of his life, after having suspended him for life several times in the past...
